Homeopathy as a science has been classified under Complementary and Alternative System of Medicine.

Homeopathy believes that symptoms, signs and diseases are end products of disturbances in vital force. Vital force is that spirit like force whose normal functioning at levels of mind, body and spirit constitute health, any disturbance in this results in disease. Based on this concept it can be classified under 'Energy Based Medicine'.

In its approach to patients homeopathy believes that it is on account of individual susceptibility that one suffers from diseases. For e.g.: A group of individuals have got wet in the rain, but only 3 suffer from Influenza. Further on when these individuals suffer from influenza each suffer in their own peculiar way. The first person may start with sneezing, the other with bodyache and the third with fever. Similarly each may have their own peculiar mental state. First may be sensitive to noise, the other may be irritable and the third depressed.

Homeopathy in its approach considers not only the part, organ or system but the person behind the disease. The person constituted by his mental, physical make up/attributes and finally his symptom expressions. Thus homeopathy heals Mind and Body both.
